Recent years witness the huge progress in the improvement of production efficiency, which produces a variety of commodities in relatively cheaper prices than they were in decades ago. So, it would be more likely for people to throw old things away instead of repairing them. On the top of that, the promotion on the media could be another reason for this trend. Various advertisements on the Internet or TV keep persuading us to buy the latest products. They lure us to update our belongings by presenting their new functions and the gorgeous appearances. Hence, the consumers may catch the trend and discard the old ones.

This phenomenon could bring about the consequences from different aspects of our society. As for the environment, the rampant production could speed up the exhaustion of the natural resources; the waste we throw away may aggravate the pollution of our surroundings as well if we cannot recycle them appropriately. Besides, this way of living also encourages the consumerism and irrational consumption, which may lead to the prevalence of money-oriented mentality. People may try to buy anything they want regardless of their financial status and overlook what are the really valuable things in their lives.

In conclusion, the reason contributing to the throw-away society varies, and it has many potential drawbacks.
